What is being in foster care really like? Find out from the youths themselves!

The Unheard is a group of young adult alumni of the Illinois child welfare system.  Their first production, entitled Strong Connections, is a 45-minute play written and performed by the young people themselves.  In the production, they relate their stories as they journeyed through the world of foster care—always emphasizing their struggle to find and maintain meaningful personal connections along the way. 

The Unheard have performed at several conferences nationwide—including most recently the 2009 Child Welfare League of America national conference in Washington, DC—and have inspired lawmakers, foster parents, and child welfare and adoption professionals.  Come hear their compelling stories on Friday, May 29th during the Adoption Exchange Association Conference in Chicago.
