WHY BECOME A MEMBER?

Member Benefits

Serve on the AEA Board of Directors. Only members can serve on the AEA Board of Directors.  As a member, you can step forward for nomination and election to the Board as vacancies occur. AEA Board Members meet quarterly and have the privilege of governing and shaping the vision of AEA.

Serve on Working Committees. You don’t need to be an AEA Board Member to serve on many of AEA’s volunteer committees. As an active member, you can help to plan upcoming conferences while serving on the Conference Committee, shape AEA’s Standards & Ethics from a seat on the Standards Committee, insure diversity and growth in the organization through participation on the Membership Committee, and more!

Free CEUs, Webinars
Remain abreast of the latest approaches in recruitment through AEA. AEA offers continuing education units from the National Association of Social Workers for its innovative practice trainings. Trainings are free for members, and are held six times a year. The trainings are led by experts in the field and offer solutions to tricky topics relevant to recruitment, such as: recruiting under restrictions set by court, busting through barriers to permanency, navigating the interstate adoption process, reaching faith-based congregations, and more.

National CONFERENCE
Held biannually, members receive deep discounts on the registration fee, and the opportunity to receive up to 10 hours of free continuing education units.

Online COMMUNITY
Available 24 hours a day, AEA’s online community gives members the
opportunity to informally share or seek advice on recruitment strategies at any time of day or night.

COLLABORATE National Matching Catalog and Calls
AEA offers a quarterly publication for members to promote their waiting
children and families to other members, and facilitates a call for members to present their children.

CEO Forums
Senior leaders receive trainings on topics relevant to their work: fundraising, leading child welfare organization through system change, human resources, system integration/mergers, and more.

Peer to Peer PUBLICATIONS
AEA’s Member of the Month publication highlights a member who has implemented a successful strategy to recruit or retain homes for children, teens, and medically-fragile youth in foster care. This publication, driven by peers, gives members insight into practical cutting-edge techniques they can implement right away.

STANDARDS in Practice
As the country’s only national association of adoption exchanges, AEA’s
Standards in Practice is codified by our Board of Directors, and issued
especially for members.

Other Benefits

Special Offers. AEA has made social media consulting available to its members. One New York City member said of the consulting:

“That alone was worth the price of AEA Membership.”

Other special deals and offers will be shared with members as available. Members also received notification about the AdoptUSKids localization grants as the RFP was released in 2013 and again in 2015. While not limited to AEA members, four current members were the recipients in the first round of grants.

Your Organization’s Link on the AEA Website. As a member, your organization will be listed and linked to your website in the member section of the website.
