California San Juan Unified School District's Foster Youth Services program is holding its annual Foster Youth Job Shadow Day on February 9th in collaboration with other school districts. During this day foster youth students are given the opportunity to shadow working professionals in a range of careers from tech to back-of-house culinary operations.

California research organization Silicon Valley Data Trust is using the data collected by public schools, behavioral health agencies, juvenile probation agencies and child welfare agencies to focus on how to help the neediest children.

Georgia legislator Senator William Ligon introduced an amendment to the state adoption law that would "allow a child-placing agency to decline to accept a referral from the State Department of Human Services and decline to perform services not referred under contract with the department based on child-placing agency's sincerely held religious beliefs..."
