Indiana Department of Education and Department of Child Services would be required to share data on students who are foster youth if House Bill 1314 is passed. This is to help identify issues that are holding back these students. The Indiana State Board of Education would be required to release an annual report on foster youth education as well.
New Mexico Senator George Munoz is sponsoring Senate Bill 231 that provides a tax credit of up to $1,000 a year for employers who hire youth in the state's foster care system. The legislation passed the senate on a unanimous vote.
North CarolinaTransportation Really Is Possible (TRIP) pilot program provides foster youth and their caregivers reimbursement costs related to obtaining a driver's license. North Carolina Division of Social Services collaborated with county departments of social services, former foster youth, family partners and other stakeholders to develop and launch this program.
