CHOOSE A CAREER THAT WILL IMPACT A CHILD'S LIFE!

Are you searching for a career where you have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others?  Where a career is not just a job but an opportunity to create a meaningful and life-changing legacy?  A career where you are not only rewarded but also challenged by the decisions you make each and every day?  If your answer is yes, then a career in adoption is the perfect choice for you.

WHAT IS I-CARE?

I-CARE is the "Initiative to Create Adoption Ready Employees." It is a new program of the Adoption Exchange Association generously supported by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, AEA members and individual donors. The initiative has been created to give you the insights you will need as you make your choice to join the adoption workforce.

Watch our "introduction to I-CARE" video featuring Kamilah Bunn, Chief Executive Officer of AEA and Rita Soronen, President & CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption for more!

What is an adoption worker?

Adoption professionals help children heal, support them through the process, find relatives, educate families, unite children with adoptive parents, and support the newly-formed families throughout the adoption and over their lifetime. There are a number of opportunities for you to contribute to the future of foster children in need of a permanent home and to join the thousands of professionals across the country who are making a real difference in the lives of children.

Watch Adrienne Jubilee share more about her job as an adoption worker through the Wendy's Wonderful Kids program.

As an adoption worker, you will have the opportunity to give children what we all want and need – a family who loves and supports us. This initiative will share the joys and challenges of being an adoption worker, and the benefits to you and the communities you serve.  Heather Simmons said it best in her testimonial.

“There are so many rewarding experiences:  the moment you realize the youth finally believes or trusts you, the smiles, the laughter you have never heard before, the life that comes back into the eyes of a child when they meet their family for the first time, the sound of a youth when they let go of deep sigh when the judge says their new adoptive name and makes the adoption final!  Then years later when your phone rings and the youth is on the phone to say thank you!” Heather Simmons, Associate Director of Adoption, Lund Family Center, Burlington, VT
