Louisiana Senator Regina Barrow passed a bill to setup a panel to study how to raise up the age of foster care eligibility from 18 to 21. But the Department of Children and Family Services were floored when another law was mandated to make the change effective immediately.

Maine Governor LePage proposes five child welfare bills to be discussed by the Health and Human Services Committee. This bill would only require the state to make "reasonable efforts" to keep families together instead of requiring the law to make reunifying and rehabilitating families a priority.

Virginia City of Norfolk Mayor Kenny Alexander will participate in Startup in Residence. A 16-week program that connects government agencies with startup organizations to co-create new technology solutions. This program offers education for staff in areas of partnership, procurement, open data, civic technology trends, technology marketplace, and new methods of product development and procurement.
