Indiana lawmakers are anticipating a tight budget next year but larger appropriation for the Department of Child Services is being prioritized. Governor Eric Holcomb aims to include a variety of tax breaks and boost job training and treatment programs.

Indiana will extend foster care to age 21 and independent living services to age 23 after a recommendation from the Commission for Improving the Status of Children and the Child Welfare Policy and Practice Group's June 2018 audit of the Indiana Department of Child Services.

New York nonprofit Gateway Longivew has been awarded a $225,000 grant per year up to three  years from The Dave Thomas Foundation. This will fund three more child-focused adoption recruiters for Wendy's Wonderful Kids.
