Florida non-profits, Selfless Love Foundation has partnered with Adoption-Share and an innovative adoption matching technology called Family-Match to bring together families.  Adoption-Share's mission is to bring reform and innovation to child welfare. Family-Match is a data-driven software that uses predictive models utilized by eHarmony to help case workers with placement and permanency decisions.

North Dakota has submitted a plan for preventative services to keep children out of foster care. This is in order to receive funding as part of the Family First Prevention Services Act of 2018. Now funds can be used for mental health and substance abuse counseling to allow children to stay with their parents to relatives. Once plans are approved by the U.S. Children's Bureau states can receive funding for preventative services.

Pennsylvania Department of Human Services secretary Teresa Miller highlighted the Fostering Independence Through Education Act, which provides tuition waivers for students who were in foster care or adopted from foster care. This waiver applies to both public and private colleges in Pennsylvania. The waiver applications will be available starting in January from the Department of Education for the fall semester in 2020.
