Florida nonprofit, All Star Foundation has created a five acre campus containing six houses for foster families to take in five children each. The adults on campus will be trained in trauma care and recovery and will still engage with biological parents and still stay connected. The organization is actively looking to recruit foster families to live on their campus.
Michigans child welfare agency has taken a more creative and proactive approach to the agency's immediate response to COVID-19. With the help of a research assessment identifying where the foster children were coming from and isolating those families who already had interactions with the agency, the child welfare agency was able to call all 14,000 families to offer whatever support was possible.
Tennessee Department of Education has released the "Initial COVID-19 Impact Report" which provides the impact of COVID-19 has on children and families. A task force has been put together to ensure that the needs of children are being met and to empower local communities to engage in meaningful ways to support child well-being.
