CaliforniaSenate Bill 912 would provide further assistance to the extended foster care program by continuing to provide assistance and case management for six months after an emergency declaration is made. SB 912 would allow adults who turn 21 between March 4 and June 30, 2021 to remain eligible for benefits through the end of next June, adding eight more months.
US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and 23 Senate colleagues are calling for an end to anti-LGBTQ discrimination in the adoption and foster care system in the City of Philadelphia. These legislators are sponsoring the Every Child Deserves a Family (ECDF) Act to end discrimination against prospective adoptive and foster parents based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or religion. This legislation would also prohibit this kind of discrimination against children and youth in the child welfare system.
US federal legislations are being introduced to ensure state child welfare systems receive long needed financial support to modernize their data systems. The Comprehensive Welfare Information System (CCWIS) has great potential to help utilize high-quality data for evidence-based treatments (EBT) and fully integrated trauma-informed care into strategies.
