Compensation: Unpaid

Benefits: $85.00/ week for transportation

Type: 32 hours per week

Commitment: September 4, 2018 – December 6, 2018

Education: College student enrolled at a university of college studying social work, communications, marketing, public administration or closely related field

Location: On-site at the Adoption Exchange Association (AEA) headquarters, Linthicum, MD located at 605 Global Way, Linthicum, MD 21090

Public Transportation: AEA headquarters are located 4 miles from the BWI Amtrak rail station with regular train service from/to Union Station in Washington DC via the MARC commuter rail.

Make a difference and help support social workers across the country with their continuing education needs at the Adoption Exchange Association! This unpaid internship will expose students to national adoption practice, continuing education and workforce development. The intern will work at AEA headquarters in Linthicum Heights, MD.

Intern Duties:

National Conference: The intern will be responsible for participating in our national conference planning calls, coordinating our student event to occur at the AEA National Conference in April, promoting our student scholarship program and serving as an active member of our National Conference planning team.

Education: The intern will assist in preparing CEU applications for the National Association of Social Workers program to credential licensed social workers.

Social Media: The intern will assist with our social media campaigns and communications on all of our platforms.

Research Project: The intern will work on a fall project around best practices in adoption recruitment, development and support with researchers at Morgan State University. The intern's research project will be presented to the AEA Board of Directors - a one-of-a-kind experience!

Required Skills:

  • Passionate about our cause
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to access public transportation
  • Skilled with social media and Instagram
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Event planning experience a plus!
